Foxford Services possesses extensive
experience in designing graphical user interfaces
for both the novice and experienced user. We
believe that excellent user interface design
is one of the key components to the success
of a multiple user system.
As an example of how we take this
so seriously; during the design phase of the
TSANet project (http://www.tsanet.org/ - see
Appendix A), Foxford Services organised a usability
lab at Hewlett-Packard’s offices in Amsterdam.
The lab consisted of a mixed group of future
users of the system. Users were given a number
of tasks to perform and were observed to see
how they went about completing the various tasks.
This was a crucial stage in the design process,
as the designers got an excellent insight into
what problems users may have when using a new
system.
Foxford Services would strongly
recommend involving future users of the system
in the design process in order to produce simple
and easy to use graphical interfaces tailored
to the needs and experience of the intended
user population.
